Lyle Langlois

Nothing is stopping this amazing 80 year old. Lyle Langlois sets goals and accomplishes them!

At age 49 Lyle Langlois pondered the epiphany of turning 50. He had read an article that stated that if one could run a marathon in less than 4 hours they would be immune from any and all heart problems for seven years. This seemed like a very interesting goal and so he set out to accomplish it. Lyle’s first marathon in Hawaii took him over 5 hrs but 18 months later he ran Tucson AZ marathon in 3 hrs 56 min and was hooked on adventure and endurance races.

His retirement goals were not the usual type. Qualifying for the Boston marathon was at the top of his list. This was followed by bicycling across America and backpacking from Mexico to Canada.

Since setting those goals 30 years ago, Lyle has accomplished many amazing feats: 63 marathons, cycled on five continents and did 100 races from age 70 to 80 including 20 half marathons, 15 triathlons and a snow shoe race. Lyle jokes that he has attempted almost everything except major surgery.

His future goals include completing at least 50 races in the next 5 years including a kayak race and dog sled race.

Lyle’s favorite quote? “There is NO finish line....don't be so afraid of dying that you never learn to LIVE”
